Karie Coffman

CAMPUS COORDINATOR

Mrs. Coffman is a native Texan and has resided in Dripping Springs, TX with her husband and two children for the last ten years.

She is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Family and Child Development with a minor in Early Childhood Intervention. Mrs. Coffman spent five years working in the foster/adoption sector before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Once her children were school-aged, she returned to work and has spent the last four years in private school administration. Mrs. Coffman loves all things related to nature and animals, camping with her family, reading, baking and enjoys volunteering at PAWS Animal Shelter alongside her daughter. She is excited and grateful to be part of Sunrise Christian Schoolhouse and looks forward to watching the students thrive!

Emily Weyel

FIRST GRADE & MUSIC THEORY

Ms. Weyel has an extensive background in classical, Christian education and is passionate about the beauty and benefits that come from this specific approach to learning. She has taught for the past 4 years in a classical setting. In addition to teaching first grade in the Fall, she is excited to share her love of music with the students at SCS as they dive into to Music Theory. She is currently working on obtaining her Educator Mastery in Classical Education Certification.

Ms. Weyel’s utmost goal is to provide her students with not only the materials they need to grow in the classroom but to plant and nourish a deep love for learning that will continue to grow as they move through their childhood and into adulthood.

In her free time Ms. Weyel enjoys reading, music, outdoors, coffee and quality time with family and friends! She is so thankful for the opportunity to join Sunrise Christian Schoolhouse and looks forward to all that the Lord has in store for the school and her students. Ms. Weyel is an active member of Hill Country Bible Church DS.

Julie FitzGerald

SECOND GRADE & LIFE SKILLS

Mrs. FitzGerald lives in Dripping Springs, TX with her husband and two high-school aged sons. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Mrs. FitzGerald is a veteran educator with 20 years of experience as both a teacher and school administrator. She has taught in the public school and private school setting and is excited to be teaching second grade this Fall and is also looking forward to being involved in the Life Skills program at SCS.

Mrs. FitzGerald loves spending time with her family, traveling, reading, watching her sons play sports and teaching Sunday School at Austin Ridge Bible Church in Dripping Springs, TX.

April Peterson

Upper Grammar

Mrs. Peterson loves teaching! She has an extensive teaching background spanning over 28 years in private and public school settings as well as, homeschooling. She has taught many children over the years including her own boys whom are now in their twenties. Mrs. Peterson treasures the students she has taught and hopes that she has blessed their lives as much as they have blessed her.

Her pride and joy is her family; she is outnumbered in a family full of boys- her husband, three sons, and two grandsons, but she wouldn’t have it any other way! She is so happy to be joining the SCS family and hopes that God will use her in mighty ways inside the classroom. She wants each of her students to not only be inspired by their academic studies but hopes that each child will be able to walk away knowing and understanding the love of Jesus for them.

Christina Pickens

TEACHING ASSISTANT & ART APPRECIATION

Ms. Pickens was born and raised in Austin. She has spent the last two years as a Grammar school aide and Art teacher in a private school setting. Ms. Pickens loves to read, specifically poetry, and is currently working her way through a stack of literary classics. Her hobbies include spending time with her pets, fellowship with friends, working out, traveling and ART! She hopes to inspire her students in Art Appreciation as they study the principles of art and create beautiful masterpieces together.

Sarah Kuykendall

Mrs. Kuykendall was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. She is a graduate of Tarleton State University where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Family and Child Development. While working on her degree, she worked as a Pre-School teacher. After completing an internship with the Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Mrs. Kuykendall was offered a permanent position with TBCH as their Community Outreach Coordinator for K-12 grade students. She cherishes her time with TBCH and feels blessed by all of the kids she was able to work with there. Currently she is busy being a mom and helping manage the family businesses. You will see her step in as a substitute teacher and volunteer at SCS.

Mrs. Kuykendall loves to garden, all things Texas history, antiquing, fishing at the Texas coast, beach time and playing with her kids. Contact us today to meet her and the rest of our team!
