Classical education is a time-tested approach that aligns instruction and curriculum to a child’s cognitive development as expressed through the “trivium” (Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric). Each stage prepares students at the appropriate level of development challenging them both academically and spiritually. At SCS, our day begins with school wide morning devotions and we continue the rest of our day by integrating biblical truths into all subject areas allowing students to develop depth of knowledge and wisdom with Jesus Christ being at the center of all that we do.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on classical methodology with an emphasis on critical thinking. Throughout the day, students engage in learning all core subjects which are presented by our educators with a clear dedication to Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. We hope to challenge and inspire our students while encouraging a genuine love of learning through instruction and hands-on activities.
Life Skills
In addition to core subjects, our curriculum includes life skills that we believe are essential to a robust educational experience. Life skills taught at SCS include: Home Skills (Basic First Aid, Gardening, Cooking, Woodworking), Spanish, grade appropriate Business/Finance Course with an Entrepreneurial Fair.
Music Theory, Art Appreciation & Physical Education
At SCS, we believe in providing students with a great foundational experience and this includes our Specials Program where students are able to to express their gifts and talents through art, music and P.E.
Students will be given the opportunity to explore and learn the fundamentals of creating music- melody, harmony, rhythm- in Music Theory.
Art Appreciation encourages exploration, self expression, logical thinking, self-esteem, imagination, and creativity through different mediums and techniques.
There are two Fine Arts Showcases planned for the school year.
