The following are the essential beliefs on which Sunrise Christian Schoolhouse is based. They are also
the key elements of Christianity that will be taught unapologetically in various ways through all grade
levels. The substance of these statements constitutes the primary doctrine at SCS. Secondary or divisive
doctrines and issues will not be presented as primary doctrine. When such issues arise, teachers will
refer students to the family and their pastor for final authority. SCS is faith and Bible based and is not
associated with a specific church or denomination.
The Bible: We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of both the Old and New Testaments, i.e., that the
very words of the original Scriptures are infallible and inerrant and that they are our final and absolute
authority in every area of life and knowledge.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Isaiah 40:8)
God: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Ephesians 4:4-6)
Jesus: We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and that
He is both undiminished deity and genuine humanity in one person forever.
We believe that Jesus Christ died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, was buried and rose again on
the third day, that He ascended into heaven and will return to earth in glory and judgement.
( Luke 1:35; Matthew 1:23; Ephesians 1:7)
The Holy Spirit: We believe that God, the Holy Spirit, is a personal being who convicts the world of sin
and who regenerates, indwells, empowers, and guides believers for God.
(John 16: 7-15, Romans 8:14, 1 John 4:13)
Creation: We believe that man was created by a direct act of God in His image, not from previously
existing life; that all men sinned in Adam (the historical father of the entire human race) and thus
incurred both physical and spiritual death; and that all men have inherited a sin nature.
(Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 5:12-13)
Salvation: We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, totally apart from human
merit, and that the experience of regeneration produces a new creature in Christ.
(1 John 2:2; John 3:16; Romans 3:22)
Gender & Marriage: We believe that God creates each person as male or female. We believe that the
term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive
union, as delineated in Scripture.
(Genesis 2:18-25; Genesis 1:26-27)
